ZWEI SELTENE UND HÜBSCHE POSTINKUNABELN IM GOTISCHEN ORIGINALEINBAND __________________________________________________________________________ BESCHREIBUNG Zwei äußerst attraktive und vollständige Frühdrucke in einem hervorragend erhaltenen, originalen, hübschen, gotischen Klostereinband.
Zum einen ein Pariser Druck über die Lehre des Herzens, verfasst vom Dominikaner Gerardus Leodiensis, welcher in der 2. Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts lebte. Er war Scholastiker und lehrte in Paris und Lüttich. Aus Paris stammt auch der hübsche Frühdruck aus der berühmten Offizin von Jean Petit.
Zum anderen die seltene und hübsch illustrierte Kölner Ausgabe der „Meditationes de interiori homine“ von Bernardus Claravallensis. Der heilige Bernhard von Clairvaux (um 1090-1153) war Kreuzzugsprediger und Mystiker. Er galt als einer der bedeutendsten Mönche des Zisterzienserordens, für dessen Ausbreitung über ganz Europa er verantwortlich war.

AUSSTATTUNG - Gotische Type, einspaltig, 32 Zeilen und Überschrift. - Druck noch ganz im Inkunabelstil. - Mit zweifach wiederholten Titelholzschnitt (recto und verso Titel und am Ende). - Die Holzschnitte zeigen Anna mit Maria und dem Jesuskind. - Einige Holzschnittlombarden.

Blindgeprägtes Schweinsleder über Holzdeckeln. - Vorderdeckel mit umlaufender Floraler Bordüre und großer gotischer Raute im Mittelkasten. Rückdeckel mit diagonal verlaufenden Streicheisenlinien und zwei Blütenstempel sowie zwei pfeildurchbohrte Lilienherzstempel mit Christusmonogramm „ihs“. Nicht in EBDB, Stempel ähneln aber im Motiv denen des Augustiner Chorherrenstiftes Rebdorf (EBDB w00066; Schwenke-Schunke II, S.221). Drei echte Bünde. 1 intakte Messingschließe. Alter handschriftlicher Titel auf dem Rücken. Außergewöhnlich gute Erhaltung. Buchblock und Bindung fest und stabil Deckel und Rücken nur ganz leicht berieben. Abmessungen: 15,3 x 10,0 x 3,8 cm (HxBxD)
ZUSTAND Sehr guter bis ausgezeichneter Originalzustand beider Drucke. Gleichmäßig leicht gebräunt, saubere, nahezu fleckenfreie Exemplare. Erstes Titelblatt mit großen Einriss, von hinten alt gesichert und im oberen Rand hinterlegt und stärker fingerfleckig. Büttenpapier, teilweise unbeschnitten. Keine Ausrisse, Verluste oder Defekte. UNBEDENKLICHKEITSERKLÄRUNG Hiermit wird die einwandfreie Herkunft des vorliegenden Werkes bestätigt. Das Werk ist zum Zeitpunkt des Verkaufs frei von Rechten Dritter. |
TWO RARE AND PRETTY POSTINCUNABLES IN AN ORIGINAL GOTHIC BINDING
DESCRIPTION Two attractive and extreme rare and complete early prints in an excellently preserved, original gothic binding. Firstly, a Parisian print on the doctrine of the heart, written by the Dominican Gerardus Leodiensis, who lived in the second half of the 13th century. He was scholastics and taught in Paris and Liege. From Paris derives its pretty early print of the famous Offizin of Jean Petit.
Secondly, a rare and beautiful illustrated Cologne edition of "Meditations on Interiori homine" of Bernardus Claravallensis. St. Bernard of Clairvaux (around 1090-1153) was a crusade preacher and a mystic. He was considered one of the greatest monks of the Cistercian Order, for its spread throughout Europe, he was responsible.

Blind stamped pigskin over wooden boards. Front cover with a stamped floral border and large gothic diamond in the center box. Back cover with diagonal iron lines and two pistils and two Arrow Pierced lilies heart stamp with monogram of Christ "ihs". Not in the data base of EBDB, but similar stamp to those of the Augustinian Canons Rebdorf (EBDB Nb. w00066; Schwenke-Schunke II, p.221). Three compartments. One intact clasp. Old handwritten title on spine. Exceptionally good condition. Covers and spine very lightly rubbed. Inner book and binding are strong and stable. Sizes: 15.3 x 10.0 x 3.8 cm (HxWxT)
CONDITION Very good to excellent original condition of both prints. Uniformly lightly brownish, otherwise clean and almost spotless copies. First title page with an old backed large tear, from behind and deposited in the upper edge and stronger fingerstained. Strong handmade paper, partly still untrimmed. No tearing, no losses or defects.
CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE We confirm the legal acquisition and the perfect origin of the purchased post-incunables.
