ALBORETO VICTORY IN A TYRRELL. ROUND 7 OF THE 1983 SEASON. A very nice copy. Racing the US Grand Prix at Detroit had started in 1982, It was to prove a demanding track for drivers. The first race in 1982 had been sensational for one of the great charges through the field to victory by John Watson (having qualified 17th) in his McLaren and this programme appropriately has a lot of features on the first Detroit race. The second race in 1983 proved to be a tactical battle with Alboreto and Tyrrell's non-stop strategy paying dividends as the charging Nelson Piquet (who would win the championship in '83) suffered a puncture and fell back and next placed Rosberg (the reigning world champion from 1982) in his Williams had followed a one-stop race. Interestingly there were 5 different race cars in the top six and that summed up what was again a very tight season across teams which finally went to Piquet in his Brabham pipping Prost in the Renault in the final race of the season. Prost but more particularly Renault should have won it and their failure in the last races of the season saw Prost depart acrimoniously for McLaren and for Renault to disappear as a title challenging team. A very nice copy.   Race Podium:  Michele Alboreto 1st, Keke Rosberg 2nd, John Watson 3rd.
